Established in 1922 (making it Italy's first national park), the land is home to 4,000 alpine ibex, an endangered species that the park has been charged with protecting. The Nivolet pass is a wonderful high mountain place. The road is well paved but full of sharp bends; along this road there are many lakes of different surface. The scenery is fantastic !
