Experience a piece of history at Teatro Romano, the remains of a first-century amphitheater. Today, just seven of the original 60 arches remain in this structure that once held 20,000 people. There is also a surrounding wall of which only part remains, which stands 22 m (72 ft) tall. A walkway will help you easily navigate the area, and informational brochures are available nearby. Special events, such as light shows, are sometimes hosted here. Plan to see Teatro Romano and other attractions that appeal to you using our Aosta trip itinerary builder site.

  • This large and very impressive area of Roman Theatre ruins is located very close to the Porta Praetoria. It is believed that the amphitheatre was built several centuries after Aosta was originally...

  • The roman theatre site is surprisingly large and gives a good impression of the original theatre. The stage area is particularly impressive.

  • Great to visit this seasoned piece of Roman history. Looks lovely covered in snow, and even though some of it was closed to the public it was still a nice walk
  • The ruins are remarkable for the grandeur of the building and the stunning natural backdrop of the snow-capped Alps. Admission costs €8. (April 2023) and the same ticket is valid for two other archaeological sites in Aosta (the paleochistian church of San Lorenzo and the forum cryptopoticus) plus the archaeological museum.
  • Amazing place to visit it is so beautiful and old, very easy to get to and located right in the center of aosta. This is a must visit and if you come here during you have to visit it during the night for the amazing Christmas market inside.
  • Aosta is a charming place with some amazing Roman remains. Our visit was swift but we intend to return for a leisurely visit to explore in more detail. Lovely shops as well.
  • It is very interesting and just around the corner from the Tourist Information Office. It was especially beautiful during the Christmas Market. Large site.
