  • Old mansion converted into modern museum. Ok, maybe it lacks some multimedia and more advanced presentation of it's treasures, but all in all definitely worthy to see and absorb.

  • If you love the Romans and history, you can't miss this museum in Aquileia. Get an FVG card, get in for free and enjoy strolling around, breathing in the millennia. Well worth it.

  • Great museum that was open later than we expected (7pm). We visited on a Saturday (25 March 2023) around 430pm. We spent about 1.5 hrs but could have spent 2-3h reading more signs. 3 floors inside + outdoor area -- unfortunately the outdoor area is under renovation so you can't tour the whole thing but you can still enjoy some of it. Signs in Italian and English that gave great insight. A small gift shop of mostly books but a few other treasures. Loved learning about the city and seeing so many Roman artifacts. It'll never get old seeing back into history & daily lives like this!
  • Amazing collection of anticquites including absolutely superb mosaics, sculptures and curved pictures-miniatures on gemmas. Exposition are located in three floors building and big yard and one hour is not enough to overlook all details.
  • The museum has had a makeover recently and the set-up is neat, take it from an archi student. Every object is presented in a way that valorizes it perfectly, also there is plenty of plaques explaining every aspect of what's showcased, both historical and of matter info. I personally don't know the price of tickets but it's free for art history/architecture students, and there's a pass called "FVG Card Aquileia" that for the price of 15€ gives you access to the Basilica and the two cripts, the baptistery and two other mosaic exposition.
  • On the first Sunday of February we visited the National Archaeological Museum of Aquileia for free. It is certainly one of the most important and fascinating museums in the world on Roman civilization. A visit to the museum located at the Cassis Faraone villa takes us in the footsteps and spirit of the historical discovery of the city of Aquileia through the testimonies of the many finds that attest to the phases and quality of economic, cultural and religious life starting from the foundation of the city in 2nd century BC up to the imperial age. The perfectly arranged rooms are very impressive. We have seen with great interest and emotion the various museum collections, the halls with public monuments, statues, cinerary urns, beautiful kits, many ceramic and glass art productions and the rich displays of gems, jewels, amber and coins. Also worth visiting and contemplating for a long time are the external garden and the lapidary galleries. We return to explore further. Many thanks to the managers and good enjoyment to all.
  • SO interesting! Historically speaking, one of the best museums of its kind. I found the artifacts intriguing and learning about the history of this port city and past trade routes was fascinating. Bravo to everyone who continues to work at this gem of a site!
