A place of myth, mystery, and horror, Parco dei Mostri was designed not to please, but to astonish. The park’s name stems from its many larger-than-life sculptures, which appear to be have been randomly strewn about the area. The symbolism of these Mannerist works of art is obscure, with figures of a turtle with a winged woman on its back, a huge elephant trampling a Roman legionary, and a dragon attacked by lions, to name just a few of the oddest examples. The layout of the lush garden, created in the 16th century, is attributed to architect Pirro Ligorio, and the sculptures to artist Simone Moschino. The garden, still a private property, has been a major tourist attraction since the 1970s. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance. • An amazing and surprising garden full of curious and big statues. Entrance fee a bit expensive (we payed 50€ for 2 adults and 3 children aged 5, 10 and 12), but on the positive side it had loads of parking space and it was worth for a nice walk. We stayed about 1,30h.
  • A great park with lots to see, filled with fruit and nut trees. A great experience for anyway, preferably when there are no school trips happening (there were 2 on the day of my visit). It would be better of the statue/monuments had signage with qr codes and audio guides or signage.
  • If you like to walk around and see huge carved bizarre stone statues--you will want to come here. Created in the 1500s--I kept wandering what "they were on?" One of favorites was being inside the mouth of "Orcus" (you can have someone take your picture while in the mouth). In May, there was still a waterfall that was flowing. If you stay on the paths--pretty much wheel chair accessible.
  • Loved getting to see the statues, but as someone with mobility issues - I will say that parts of the park are very challenging. There were ramps and railings towards the entrance, but not once you go further in where the statues are. Wonderful overall - just watch out if you're trying to bring a stroller or wheelchair.
  • Quite pricey, I loved the statues. They don’t have student discount for one person, apparently they don’t do that in Italy anywhere so far what I’ve seen. But there were a few more of us so we got it as a student group. but it was a bit of a problem at first. Few technical things like the green string were ruining the vibe of the park. Poor garden management, it could be way more magical, it has nice potential, it could be taken care of more. And we also walked alonside of road 100 mins to get there from the nearest train station so they should also sort out the Bus. One of the workers took us with his car back to the station after we asked for the taxi when he was just leaving so thats was very nice.
