  • Very suggestive location, you will be surrounded by nature and story. It’s easy for kids and you could make picnic, there isn’t a bar nearby so don’t forget that.

  • Great area for hiking with oustanding landscape and well maintained trails
  • Lovely ruins in a bucolic landscape
  • Must visit
  • Beautiful place for a relaxing walk and a bucolic and romantic landscape. There are several picnic areas and a fountain at the level of the aqueduct even if I'm not sure if the water is drinkable. It is full of different routes and all of them very beautiful. I parked right at the gate entrance and went straight towards the aqueduct (very close) then straight again to the left towards the church ruins with the famous fig tree. You can go around the ruins and then follow the descent back. Going back from here, after about 400 meters on the right there is an indication to go down towards the solfatara and go to the diosilla waterfalls. ATTENTION HERE the downhill path is steep, slippery and with many gradients so if you don't have suitable shoes since it is also longish, I would avoid it. The solfatara is very particular to see but to get to the waterfalls you have to continue uphill for a nice stretch that is always quite steep. Dogs on a leash are allowed (although depending on your dog and the presence of people, they keep themselves free). The aqueduct-church walk is also passable with strollers.
  • A natural reserve of Canale Monterano, a pearl, for hikers, trail running, for mountain biking. Very large, kept well cleaned, you can access from the village of Monterano by following the signs for waterfall diosilla or antica monterano as there are two entrances, waterfall diosilla you will find yourself in the lower part of the reserve, the ancient monterano in the highest part where there are the ruins of the ancient town and the works of Bernini. The most interesting and beautiful routes in my opinion are from the Diosilla waterfall, there are various waterfalls, the Mignone river which crosses the reserve with the smaller Biscione river, various routes to do in the woods along the river that you will see and choose according to your taste. The reserve is a very large ring. A spectacular place that no one knows I GIVE YOU A GIND: you won't find anyone, as it is not marked and difficult to get there: follow the signs for the hut of the buttero (burned now) go on, cross the river in somehow, always straight, follow the opening of the path and you will find yourself in a large, beautiful prairie, silent, sunny, the only noise is the water of the river on your left the river and corrals with donkeys, sometimes even horses.
