Torre dell'Elefante, Cagliari

Great building - unfortunately closed between 1-4pm. And children under 12 not allowed. So I can‘t tell about the view from the top.

It was closed when we visited, the staff said we can only join the tour to visit but we cannot reach the panoramic level even if we join the tour. She suggested us to visit torre campanaria which is just next to this one, and the view was nice too.

Torre dell'Elefante sits at the top of a hill overlooking the city and the port of Cagliari. It's a tough trek up, but if you plan your route in advance you can use a couple of strategically placed elevators that make the climb easier. From the area surrounding the tower, the views of Cagliari and its port are spectacular making the effort of the climb worthwhile. The tower is surrounded by historical venues, including the main cathedral and a couple of museums. There are also many restaurants and cafés if you need to take a break.

Arrived here to a locked gate and a sign with an address to buy tickets. Rang the number provided and was told the place where the sign is IS where you buy tickets (not 100m away). No one here though. “He might be on a tour” I was told. Hung around and eventually gave up waiting. They didn’t get my cash today. The website on the sign also doesn’t work (it redirects to a spam site).

Structure is great. Unfortunately the tower is closed when we get there. We only get to see the façade.
