Beautiful Sanctuary in the high mountains !! The Sanctuary of San Magno is located in the territory of the municipality of Castelmagno in the Grana valley (Cottian Alps of Piedmont) at an altitude of 1761 m asl, along the road that climbs to Colle Fauniera. The current configuration of the building dates back to the 18th century, but the first nucleus dates back to 1475, with the construction of a chapel promoted by the then Don Enrico Allemandi of San Michele di Prazzo, who wanted to celebrate his twenty-five years as a parish in Castelmagno .

19.08.2022 Nice Sanctuary in the middle of nature with a wonderful view and meadows around where you can have picnics. It is also an excellent starting point for beautiful walks. Inside there is a collection of ex-vows, and also an ancient chapel with very beautiful frescoes.

The sanctuary of San Magno is very interesting. It has developed over time, the external portico was built around religious buildings that were gradually enlarged: this is testified by the internal chapel, behind the current church, beautiful, perhaps not always open to the public. In the area there are some refreshments where you can eat at reasonable prices and taste the dishes based on the famous cheese. Splendid landscape. The road continues towards the Fauniera hill, half of the cyclists, where there is a sculpture dedicated to Marco Pantani. It is not advisable to drive it with large cars and if you are not very experienced in mountain driving.

Quiet and enchanting place. Reachable in just 45 minutes from Cuneo by car via a road that is not particularly narrow and winding. From the sanctuary located at an altitude of 1750 you can enjoy a splendid view of the surrounding mountains. There are many meadows around where you can have picnics or sunbathe. At the sanctuary there is a fountain from which fresh mountain water flows. A few tens of meters from the sanctuary there is an excellent refuge / restaurant where you can eat. You can park your car in a large car park at the foot of the sanctuary. Inside the sanctuary, a visit to the Allemandi chapel, a true pearl of beauty, is not to be missed.
