Very nice One of the oldest churches in Crotone. "Built in the sixteenth century, it was consecrated on October 31, 1774 by the then bishop Giuseppe Capocchiani and restored at the end of the eighteenth century. A convent was part of the monastic complex, of which the bell tower, the cells, the terracotta flooring and the porch of the cloister, made of sandstone, a cistern with a puteal from 1616 was also found. in 1916, when the last three remaining nuns decided to leave the convent as it was by then dilapidated.In 1932, the transfer contract was stipulated between the Municipality of Crotone and the Episcopal Curia, with which the entire monastery returned to the ownership of the Curia. monastery, partly used by the Stigmatine Fathers and the Sisters of the Sacred Heart, houses a seat of the Office of Cultural Heritage." The Church of Santa Chiara in Crotone is fantastic! It is called the Crotone favor box. On the door there is a niche with a statuette depicting Santa Chiara. It is probably from 1300 with the diffusion of the Poor Clares.

Beautiful church which is part of a monastic complex. One of the countless "precious pieces" of the historic center of Crotone.
