Create an itinerary including Church and Museum of Orsanmichele
Church and Museum of Orsanmichele is known for the sculptures of saints by the various guilds of Florence, distributed throughout the church. View the timeline of the sculptures, created between 1340 and 1602, to appreciate the shift from Gothic to Renaissance art. Artists, such as Donatello, Ghiberti, Brunelleschi, and Giambologna, created the pieces. Read about the history of the church as a 14th-century grain hall and how it was converted into a place of worship later on. You can tour the museum on the second floor, or make your way to the top, where a viewing room gives you a 360-degree look at Firenze. • This is a lovely church, combined with a small museum. The building itself is lovely, as are the interiors, but that hardly justifies the entrance price.

  • Worth it to experience the incredibly old history of this place. After looking around the church they let you upstairs, which has an amazing view of Florence as well. In October 2022 it was open on Tuesdays and Saturdays and was necessary to book a time slot in advance.
  • Very interesting location, not very crowded, book tickets from ticketing office one day in advance. Ticketing office is around the corner. Views of Florence from top floor, and interesting art works can be seen. The collection consists of works by Verrocchio, Ghiberti, Baccio da Montepulo and Donatello, and houses the original statues, replicas of which can still be on the facade of the same building. The St. George original, which is a very important work by Donatello is not to be found here but at the Bargello upper rooms
  • I need to look into when I can go upstairs to see the original statues. Orsanmichele was a grain market but transformed into a church in the 14th century in the Gothic style. The exterior has 14 niches which were sponsored by each of the city guilds and decorated with statues of their patron saints.
  • It's beuatiful spot to visit. There's the church and the adjoining museum, containing the original statues, is included in the admission.
  • Very nice from outside, the inside was unfortunatelly closed. There was not ceremony so I really don't understand why worth to closed out the people.
