Take a dip in emerald green water along the Adriatic Coast at Channel Ciolo, a rugged beach near Santa Maria di Leuca. This gorgeous piece of nature and coastline dazzles with its clear water and large limestone rocks. Walk down to the picturesque cove and go for a swim or sunbathe along the shore. Note that you'll need to bring your own towel, and expect crowds during peak season. • This place is absolutely beautiful. Get here early because there is limited parking. Definitely worth the drive from Otranto or other nearby towns. They have stairs that take you down to a swimming area. A lot of people swim under the bridge or jump into the water from one of the smaller cliffs below. Very peaceful and serene.
  • Awesome to swim to the cave. The surface is not comfy. Free parking nearby!
  • Are you looking where to dive in Apulia? The Ciolo is one of the most fascinating coves of the Italian coast, like the fjord of Furore is one of the places where the locals love to swim and dive a colourful sea from the cliffs. This photos was shot during one of my bike and boat tours I provide in near the heel of the boot of the Italian peninsula, in Salento area of Puglia region, southern Italy. Enjoy!
  • Amazing spot in every way - the views, the swim, the cove, just everything. It is a protected park of nature, that has unfortunately already been discovered by all sorts of mindless tourists. Last week an American girl collected a bagfull of pebbles from the sea and took it with with her. There were no signs in English informing visitors of the endemic species living there. Perhaps the Italian authorities should make the information more visible, otherwise this beautiful and fragile ecosystem will soon be destroyed.
  • Some crazy people kept us entertained by jumping off ridiculously high rocks. Water was so blue it doesn’t seem real. What a wonderful beach.
