Via Giuseppe Garibaldi, Genoa

Create an itinerary including Via Giuseppe Garibaldi
In the historic heart of Genoa, Via Giuseppe Garibaldi is one of the more ornate and grandiose streets in all of Italy, complete with stonework and vivid colors. Sixteenth- through 18th-century palaces with hidden courtyards and gardens line the 250 m (820 ft) long road. While some of these palazzos are private property, you can visit the ones with museums, galleries, and civil organizations. Antique shops and gift stores also dot the street. • Very nice place to go for a walk and see the beautiful palazzi, browse some shops and eat great gelato! Several are open as museums of art or architecture and decor. Be sure to get your entry...

  • Splendid private palaces / houses belonging to insitutions like banks, municipalities where the entrance is open to the public to discover frescoes
  • Very beautiful buildings on an old traditional Genova street. Definitely worth a visit but admission required for museum. Lots of cute coffee shops and things around as well. Somewhat difficult to find due to small streets and lots of buildings works going on when we went (02/23)
  • A street full of traditional rich family palazzo....awesome to see and make great pictures
  • Very nice street all year round. There are a couple of options in terms of food, but the main attractions are the buildings both inside and outside. The architecture of the buildings is the most significant part of the street.
  • I was a bit excited to visit Via Garabaldi, but the hype isn't overly worth it. It's a lovely street, but that's about as far as it goes.
