Create an itinerary including Palazzo Te
A masterpiece designed by architect Giulio Romano, Palazzo Te is a blend of palace and villa architecture. The four facades with rustic-looking walls and flat pilasters appear symmetrical. Take a closer look, though, and you'll see that the spaces between the columns do not match. Few windows in the inner courtyard, plus an uneven and broken plaster textures, add to the true Mannerist style Romano loved. The exterior of the palace was finished quickly, but the interior took ten years to complete. An entire team of decorators covered every room with frescoes. The most famous is Romano's invented dome on the ceiling in the Room of Giants. Using our world travel planner, Mantua attractions like Palazzo Te can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • A little sterile as a property but the murals are breath taking. Take time to really study them - so much detail.

  • Overrated and unnecessary especially if you've been to Palazzo Ducale on the other side of town which if I had to choose would be the one of these two I would visit. It's not as if there is nothing...

  • A must if you’re visiting Mantova. Fabulous art and architecture. Best seen in a sunny day; buying tickets in advance is useful to skip the queue. Audio guides are cheap and useful to learn about the design and details (5€) and must be played on your own phone (so make sure you have your headphones with you if your phone does not have an headphone jack) Good snack bar at the end.
  • It was an amazing experience! I haven't got any expectations before to go, but I felt in love with the art and the stories, cause we took a guide, which is a must! Now I understood the Renaissance and felt in love from the first sight, I love the story of Giulio Romano, already his fan! Sad that he is dead cause I would invite him to draw my apartment :) cause I love his art! Highly recommend!
  • This is a little palace with very nice wall paintings. You need as a minimum 2 h, but you can spend easily more time if you look into details. There is a nice Cafe if you need a break.
  • Awesome masterpiece that is definitely worth the trip to Mantua. Architecture and painting at their best. You can choose the pace of your visit and rely on the information tables available in the different rooms for a basic describe of the art. Definitely recommended.
  • Amazing place more than I expected! But some of places are repairing...maybe can have a discount on the entry ticket will make it worth the value.
