Piazza del Duomo represents not only the geographic center of the city, but also its artistic, cultural, and social hub. This vibrant public space is named after and dominated by the city's main cathedral, one of the largest Gothic structures in Europe. As one of the city's main tourist attractions, this busy piazza was created in the 14th century and gradually developed, along with the iconic cathedral, over the next 600 years. The piazza's overall plan, in its current form, dates back to the 19th century and is largely the work of architect Gieuseppe Mengoni. The monumental buildings encircling the piazza, with the exception of the cathedral and a palace that once served as the seat of the city's civil government, were introduced by Mengoni's design. The piazza is also home to one of the world's oldest shopping malls, housed inside an imposing four-story structure that is a popular meeting and dining place. Although it is very busy, it is a beautiful place to visit and soak in the atmosphere of this city. Be careful though as, with all crowded places, pickpockets are around and expect to be hustled...

Such a beautiful and eventful place. It is a Piazza (square) and cathedral well worth a visit. If you are planning to visit the cathedral and go inside do buy your tickets online for best price. Amazing cathedral and roof worth a visit but underground not worth. You will find many day time pictures I thought of to share how it looks at night time. Still many people even at late night.

Such a special beautiful place to visit. You can spend a while day walking around here and admiring the beauty of the buildings, the architectures and the care for all these details. Absolutely majestic! We visited on a Sunday as a group of friends but it was not busy! Probably because it's cold but it was a nice, rain free day that made our trip even more memorable!

It’s such an incredible place. I’d be sure to arrive early before sunrise to see it as it comes over the church. And while you are there, you can get spectacular photos without a lot of people in them. Also consider hiring a photographer to take pics of you. I hired one through Airbnb Experiences. And then I did the rooftop tour. I actually spent a few days there. It’s an incredible site to see and so much to take in.

The whole square captivates you.. The Cathedral itself is enormous and amazing in every detail. Sometimes you have just got to stop and look around to take it all in! The Cathedral 's rooftop is a must in order to have a full experience of the place and the city. If you go about 6 am you will avoid people and get some amazing quiet shots!

The main city square of Milan. It is the hearth of Milan in every aspect: geographically, artistically, culturally, socially, spiritually. Whenever you visit this place it’s always buzzing with people, the lights from all around, the music from the street performers, the laughs and chats you hear close by and in the distance. You are consumed by all the majestic buildings around and it’s hard to keep your eyes steady on just one. You just want to take it all in.
