  • We were there after the busy season. The castle was quiet and closed. We stayed in one of the apartments next to the castle. It was a great time to go. The crowds were smaller in November. We were able to tour the castle before we left and I must say it is beautiful. We got an up close view without the crowds. The staff was extremely accommodating to all our needs.
  • Great stay in an Italian. castle about 900-1000 years old. All the rooms are different from each other, and charming. Food is good in the restaurant. Definitely need to be in at least reasonably good shape, as there is no elevators, lots of stairs, and no one to take luggage to your room.
  • We have never felt so unwelcome as at this property. In the past two years we have been to over 60 hotels and apartments but never have we been treated so inhospitably and received such poor quality for such a high price. Check-in is only possible at this property between 5 PM and 7 PM. After a day in Florence so we rushed to be there before 7pm. We were there at 6:50pm on a Wednesday. We wanted to check in, have a drink (the bar/restaurant is only closed on Tuesdays according to the website). But on arrival we were unpleasantly surprised. There was NOBODY. Restaurant closed, Bar closed, Reception closed. No one. Just some other guests walking through the building. You would say that they could have informed us about this beforehand, but that was probably too much trouble for them. After we asked several other guests where we should be, who didn't know either, suddenly an old little Italian man appeared and made it clear with arm gestures that we had to follow him. After many stairs and turns we got to the top floor. There he pointed to the front door of the apartment. We walked in, looked behind us, but the little man was already gone. . .
  • 15th Century Castle & Grounds are impressive. The setting is beautiful. Bar & Kitchen staff exceptional, needs to expand menu offerings. Accommodation lacks in some basic comfort and upkeep. Reception is largely unattended and calls went unanswered, even during posted open hours. Internet is a big issue for those who need to stay connected. Our rooms were very dark, heating was an extra charge and there were not enough blankets. Gas hob had broken and unlabeled knobs and burners had to be lit with matches, it was difficult to tell when the burner was off. We did give four stars though, the cost of our package trip was extremely reasonable and you get what you pay for. Higher rating largely due to attentive, helpful domestic staff and stunning location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
  • When we walked into the apartment we were shocked. It was 38 degrees outside, and we knew there was no air conditioning, but it was so hot! The apartment was directly under the roof. And has 3 small windows with mosquito nets on the outside of the castle, and two windows without flyscreens on the courtyard. So there was no ventilation, and the windows were not yet open when we arrived, so it was stuffy and felt like a sauna. We immediately opened the windows, but of the 3 bedrooms, each with a small window, the mosquito net in 1 bedroom was broken, so that it did not cover for +/- 50%. During the night it was not possible to get the temperature below 35 degrees. While it was much colder outside. It was horrible. If that was all, but besides that the bathrooms weren't clean, the wicker chairs in the dining room were broken so the ends of the broken cane stuck up your bottom. There were all kinds of lizards and spiders running through the rooms, it was just all old, broken and dirty. Contact We've been trying to get in touch to sort things out. But the phone number at the reception did answer, but hung up immediately. When we called again they just didn’t pick up the phone anymore. The other phone number at the reception also had no answer. Not after arrival, Nor in the morning. Very disappointing.
