  • This church surprises us, because the outside is very simple and doesn't call our attention but the inside is beautiful and kind of different. There aren't many statues, as in other churches around...

  • A lovely church located close to the heart of Murano. Very quiet and peaceful. Free entry. Some lovely chandeliers made from Murano glass. Certainly worth a look.

  • The church is nice. Went to the museum inside too. Bellini’s baby Jesus and Mary paintings are fabulous. Frescos of the last supper was beautiful. Also to see the the ceiling of the church which was made as an upside down ship. Amazing!
  • This is an incredible basilica with fine paintings made by XV artists, a beautiful combination of wood and stone. On the right side there is a mysterious place to honour the ones who passed away. Look on what is written on the floor, you will find a heavy latin meditation: (life is just) smoke, ash, nothingness (fumus, cimis, nihil)
  • The church was edificated in 1348 along with a Dominican convent, and was originally dedicated to St. John the Baptist. In 1474 a fire razed it to the ground and in 1511 it was rebuilt to the current appearance. The church has an artwork that include a Baptism of Christ attributed to Tintoretto. Recommended to go if you are in Murano.
  • Interesting leaning tower of the church, it's a wonder how its been leaning like that without toppling for so long! Apparently everything on Venice is built on thousands of wood spikes poked into the waterbed, so is everything on murano. The place is definitely a must see, especially if you aren't going to visit Venice again and again. Very laid back life here, no ac anywhere most of the summer, so be warned. The tower can be seen from pretty much everywhere near the island.
