Create an itinerary including Duomo di Napoli
Completed in the 14th century, Duomo di Napoli was built on the foundation of two palaeo-Christian basilicas, traces of which can still be seen today. When you visit this Catholic cathedral, be sure to look for the fourth-century mosaics. The grand Royal Chapel of the Treasure of San Gennaro contains famous frescoes by Domenichino and a reliquary by 14th-century French masters. Those of a squeamish disposition should skip the caskets of human bones. The cathedral operates a strictly modest dress code. • An absolutely stunning cathedral to visit, with beautiful architecture and artwork. One of the best attractions of Naples. In addition visiting is free.

  • The cathedral itself was much like other Italian cathedrals, but the baptistry is well worth a visit for its Byzantine mosaic ceiling.

  • For all the Cathedrals I've visited, this is by far one of the best. It is free entry, and so extravagant. Although I was told that you had to dress respectfully (shoulders and knees covered) this wasn't respected here? No hats to be worn in the Cathedral, and masks are optional, but it is a wonderful place to get hit with the full force of Catholicism.
  • One of the best places to visit in Naples. Essential. I recommend to visit while there’s natural light because the lighting in the city is not too good. Also you’ll find the crypt of Saint Genaro open which is a must see as well. All for free.
  • Gorgeous cathedral. The entry is free and they allow you to visit the underground hall and a few other halls filled with history and beautiful sculptures.
  • One of the biggest and most important church in Naples. We also saw the miracle with blood of San Gennaro. You should take a walk here, in a some-day visit in Naples.
  • Amazing cathedral with beautiful statues. There is also an adjoining museum which you can visit.
