Chiesa degli Eremitani - World Heritage Site
Stop by Chiesa degli Eremitani - World Heritage Site to view a 13th-century Augustinian church that was almost completely destroyed during World War II. Built in 1276, the structure was decorated with Andrea Mantegna frescoes, as well as work by Guariento and Forli. Due to its unfortunate location next to German headquarters, the church was bombed by Allied air strikes. Visit the restored church and observe the frescoes, which have been tediously pieced back together like a puzzle from the destruction. Admission is free. Plan your Chiesa degli Eremitani - World Heritage Site visit and explore what else you can see and do in Padua using our Padua vacation website.

Not the mos decorate church you can see here in Padua / Italy. But with a really interesting history and with his important history speaking.
-
Church is quite empty on the inside and there's almost nothing left of Mantegna's masterpiece. Otherwise, interesting historic place...
-
Exquisite Mantegna frescoes amidst other remarkable works of art in this beautiful church.
-
Grand with its high ceiling and details: remaining of frescos, wooden ceiling
-
You can find here frescoes of Andrea Mantegna. Alas, they damaged because of allied air bombardment in 1944. There are always several tombs of XIV-XV centuries. Admission is free but any donation is welcomed and highly appreciated. Visitors are allowed to take non commercial photo without flash light.
