Probably the first thing to do once you visit Perugia. The space is newly- renovated with beautiful paths exhibiting the artworks of many medieval artists, including Vanucci, the famous perugian artist that gave his name to the well known "corso di vanucci" street.

We've lived here for 20 years and always loved walking in the grand presence of the National Gallery along the wide, majestic Corso Pietro Vannucci. But it wasn't until a free admission offer during the Christmas holidays that we visited the gallery specifically. In those 20 years we have become accustomed to the artists, themes and subtleties of Umbrian renaissance art. You can find excellent descriptions of the paintings ín other reviews and sources, but the presentation here is one of the most tasteful, comprehensive, (yet not overwhelming) we've ever seen. Just getting to know the building and it's environs is satisfaction enough.

One of the finest museums in Italy with paintings from middle age to late Renaissance. There are around 40 rooms over two storeys with also some beautiful temporary exhibitions, so take into consideration plenty of time when visiting. There is a combined ticket with other museums in the city worth considering, but also take into account that there are a few reductions and free entries for some categories such as teachers. The collection is awesome and very well organised, with every piece having reasonable space around it to fully enjoy it and the rooms are big and never crammed with people. The only thing I thought could be improved is the lighting in a couple of room (Piero della Francesca painting, beato Angelico's and a couple of Perugino's) where the direct light impacting on the canvas makes it difficult to fully appreciate the amazing works.

Current exhibition on soap bubbles is so cute! Beautiful gallery with a diverse collection! Very well curated and cute gift shop! Very reasonable pricing too.
-
Extraordinary collection of artworks organized well in the sizable gallery space.
