Museo Delle Statue Stele Lunigianesi, Pontremoli

Very Interesting. I loved it. They have video displays in French, Italian and English and a lot of these wonderful statues. All of this is displayed in a castle that is interesting in and of itself.

The Lunigiana Stele Statue Museum is located in the Piagnaro castle in Pontremoli. The MUST and its collection of steles found in the Lunigiana area tells us about one of the most important paths of European megalithic sculpture. The layout of the internal rooms enhances the sculptures and the place that hosts them. I am always happy to point out the Museums that welcome dogs within their walls. Unmissable stop.

A small museum nestled in the hills of Lunigiana. To visit for a unique collection of its kind. The seat, the castle is very interesting and the panorama from the parade ground is fantastic.

We arrive in Pontremoli one rainy morning, and to take shelter we slip under the tunnel that leads to the museum entrance. We are therefore attracted by the magnificent sentences written on the walls that make us imagine the beauty that we would later encounter inside the museum, thus deciding to go and visit it. Once inside we are a bit dumbfounded as the mystery that hovers around these statues shakes us to the core. The tour is very short and not very varied but the final tour on the castle walls from which you can admire all of Pontremoli, the city where it all began, and where it always rains is well worth it
