Create an itinerary including Portovenere
Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997, Portovenere is a part of a series of villages called Cinque Terre connected by train and a walking path that follows the coastal cliffs. It takes a few hours to get from one end to the other, so break up your walk with stops for wine and antipasto. For the best views, take a ferry between the villages. You can visit a number of historic churches, some built as early as the 12th century, such as St. Peter's Gothic cathedral. Lord Byron spent some time in the area and added to its romantic appeal with his stories. • Low tourist city and gateway to the 5 cities
  • Pearl of the eastern riviera. Magical and fascinating place. To visit absolutely. From Wikipedia: Porto Venere Pòrtivene in Ligurian and in the local variant, also written Portovenere, is an Italian town of 3 297 inhabitants in the province of La Spezia in Liguria. Due to its urban territorial extension it is the smallest municipality in the province of La Spezia. In 1997 Porto Venere, together with the islands of Palmaria, Tino, Tinetto and the Cinque Terre was included among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
  • Country visited in winter, really suggestive, especially in the old village. Very romantic, so much so that a wedding was taking place on the cliffs! There are classic places with Ligurian products, there is no shortage of restaurants on the marina, the quality is excellent and the prices are affordable. Given the shape of the country, parking is a little limited.
  • Beautiful seaside town located at the end of the Gulf of La Spezia. Very pleasant to walk through its narrow streets. In winter the lights leave a beautiful impression.
  • On the occasion of a cruise in the Mediterranean, we stop in La Spezia where an excursion to Porto Venere is proposed. It is a pretty little 12th century village located in the Cinque Terre National Park and listed as a UNESCO heritage site. The Cinque Terre are 5 fishing villages, Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore which offer cultural landscapes, walking paths and spectacular seaside views. At the end of the mazes of the city, our guide leads us to a promontory where the magnificent church of Saint Peter (San Pietro) is frozen.
