Exciting challenging walk with an amazing view, ending at the beautifull canyon. Totally worth a visit, make sure to make enough time free for the visit.

A very nice path leads down to the canyon from the parking area, but in the middle of the path you start to think about how hard it is to climb back... The canyon is relatively short until you reach the red part, which is restricted to the professional hikers, but quite spectacular. Before you start the 2.5 hours climbing up, fill your water bottles with fresh water coming from the ground, 60 m from the canyon entrance under a Sardinia flag. You will need at least 1.5 l for the climb.

I encourage you to visit this place. Choosing the descent to the gorge from the side of the Gorropu Hotel (Parking Genna Silena), you will have a beautiful, picturesque two-hour walk down to the gorge. The route is not demanding, but for your own comfort, I encourage you to wear appropriate shoes. If we are talking about hiking clothes, I can only add that I was in the gorge at the end of October and it was very warm (shorts and a T-shirt). Before we start going down, there is a cafe with a shop near the parking lot. We can eat something there, drink coffee, buy a magnet or some other souvenir. When we buy tickets to the gorge (cost 5 euros) and go through it (length about 1.5 km),remember that we do not have to return the same route. We can take a shorter route. The beginning promises to be hard but it's only 10 minutes of climbing and the rest of the way is on flat terrain. After about 45 minutes an off-road car will be waiting for us and for a fee of 15 euros will take us back to the mountain and to the car park.

This is a place for those who like canyons, gorges, mountains and nature. Be sure to add it to your list of places to visit while being in Sardinia. A great place to spend a good half a day. You can do it in 4 hours. Don't forget to get some water and snacks.

The place was too crowded, mostly with German and some French tourists. Also there is an entrance fee of 5€, we didn't pay attention at the billboard at start of the hiking route, and were unpleasantly surprised. These two things ruined for me the experience. The popularity of the place makes also the rocks polished, so even the easy part of the trail becomes dangerous in some places. The part with scrambling (after the red sign) is quieter and even more stunning than the beginning. Probably the better part of the day to visit is the morning.

Wonderful experience to one of the deepest canyon in Italy, and Europe. You could feel the low clouds moving from bari sardo to restaurant gorropu. We took the easy route taking the jeep to a certain point and then beautiful hike of 2-3 kms. When you reach the place, climb big small limestones, another experience to reach the canyon. Loved being in nature. The landscape was mesmerising. Absolute Beauty!!!! PS Take cash to enter the place Take enough food and water with you No washrooms available Spot the BAMBI in the last photograph :)
