Pieve San Vittore, Rapolano Terme

Small church of Romanesque origin just outside the village, near the Rapolano station. The church has undergone some restoration work, such as the upper part of the bell tower and inside, but overall it has maintained the charm and austerity of the Romanesque style. Interior with a tabernacle with the Madonna della Consolazione, a fragment of a fresco, in a pillar facing the altar, by a Sienese painter of the fourteenth century and a wooden sculpture (St. Bartholomew) of the sixteenth century. The exterior is also beautiful with a tree-lined and shady front, a low wall that also serves as a seat and a beautiful view of the valley and the village.

Recorded since 1029, it has a basilica structure with three naves ending in a single apse and covered by the visible wooden structure. The simple prospectus of the facade is opened by a portal with a round arch and has a single lancet window decorated with a small column. The bell tower was rebuilt in the modern era in the upper part. Inside is a fragment of a fresco, Sant'Ansano and donor, by a Sienese artist from the end of the 14th century and the beginning of the 15th century and a polychrome terracotta from the early 16th century with the Madonna and Child.

Small church always open with a typically Romanesque structure. The church was born around the year 1000 AD. little remains inside, but it is very suggestive. It is often used for religious ceremonies such as weddings and I must say that it lends itself very well to this type of ceremonies. To visit
