This ancient monastery is a must see if you visit the Rieti region. The home of Saint Francesco for a number of years is steeped in history and immaculately preserved. There are nativity scenes...

Greccio is a lovely little hill town which is where St. Francis of Assisi started the live prescepes or nativity re-enactments. The town still puts one on at Christmas time but bitterly cold weather.....  more
