If you are new to Rome, please head over to Fat Tire Bike Tours before attempting your own walking tour. I can’t begin to tell you how good this outfit is and can’t say enough good things about our tour guide Valentina. She majored in architecture while in college and breaks down Roman / Italian history into 3 seasons. Each season is 400 years and covers 1,200 years of city history. She utilized headsets, speaks slowly and loudly enough to understand. I finally, understand the history of the fall of Rome and subsequent renaissance period in simple economic and cultural terms. Valentina took us to all the top rated places including the Jewish Ghetto, the market place, the Pantheon, Wedding Cake monument, Trevi Fountain etc. (you can cover a lot by bike). She also pointed out great restaurants and places to have a cocktails with a great rooftop view. She did not go across the river to the Vatican (which would be too much). At the end of the tour, you will have enough information to visit those locations independently and in more detail. Trust me on this folks, and go on the bike tour to get a great overview and meaningful history of Rome. You won’t be disappointed.

We had 3 segways and an electric bike. Everyone had a lot of fun. Very interesting information and our guide Marcello was entertaining and we felt safe despite the traffic. He even had virtual reality goggles to show us what many of the sites used to look like. Highly recommend

I highly recommend that you take the tour soon after you arrive so that you can see and appreciate areas that you would like to visit in depth. If you are considering a Segway tour I highly recommend Fat Tire. To start my wife and I were a little nervous, Arvin was a great instructor and tour guide. He was able to put our worries at easy. The amount of knowledge Arvin has about the city and it’s history is amazing. We got to see a lot of things in a short time!
