Create an itinerary including Villa Carlotta
Visit Villa Carlotta, built in 1690, to see a decorated house and botanical garden filled with fine art. Admire views of Lake Como as you wander through the garden among camellias, century-old cedars, a rock garden, rhododendrons, and a bamboo garden. Discover 19th-century sculptures, including pieces by Canova and Thorvaldsen. On the villa's first floor, see Hayez's "The Last Kiss of Romeo and Juliet" painting--one the collection's masterpieces. Princess Marianne of the Netherlands bought this villa for her daughter in the mid-18th century, and the second floor features furniture, pictures, and decorations from that period. The ancient greenhouse is now a cafe. Pick up an audio guides, or ask about guided tours. • Amazing place - definitely a must-see when you are in the Lake Como area. Ignore the unfriendly eldery lady at the check-in counter - this seems to fllow a weird pattern here in Italy.

  • The gardens are beautiful but be prepared for stairs and inclines. There is not much to see in the villa itself. A nice visit, but if you can’t fit it in, I wouldn’t stress over it.

  • Brilliant place to visit. They have two routes around the lovely gardens, one not so steep, and one fairly steep. But it was worth it for the views of Lake Como. They have a reasonable cafe, inside and out, with again lovely views. The villa(the museum) was ok
  • We loved this place! The garden was amazing with different species from all over the world. So cool that they are able to thrive in Italy due to the microclimates around Lake Como. The villa had beautiful views of the lake and offered many opportunities for great photos. The café inside had a decent selection of food and drinks, although slightly overpriced.
  • Beautiful house surrounded by gardens that seem to go on forever. Lovely, well laid out walks, that go from manicured to wild, but always jaw dropping in their beauty. Would love to visit again.
  • If one place to visit in coma lake, this is the one. Beautiful garden tour (30 min or 1h15 tour walking) and nice villa visit. The price is correct (12€).
  • Beautifully kept gardens and they are large so you can spend a good few hours walking them if you were inclined to do so. The villa offers some amazing views of the lake.
