Road of 52 Tunnels, Valli del Pasubio

Amazing views, make sure you have six euros in coins to pay for parking in advance. The road to the parking lot is wide enough for one car but is a two way road for the last six kilometers…stay alert…other than that, the hike is totally worth it, we took the scarubbi road on the way back to avoid the tunnels. It adds about two miles to the return trip but way easier on our knees…

This is a unique experience. Done it few times in the past and again couple of weeks ago. It never stops exciting me. It’s so so beautiful. The historic part of it is fascinating. Thanks to all the people who works to keep it how it is.

Let me start off by saying this is not an easy hike, in the slightest. If you aren’t into hiking on a regular basis, this is NOT for you. That being said, this is one of the best trails we’ve seen in Italy! So well laid out and easy to follow, up and down. We parked right at the trailhead and paid 6€ for the day. We looked at All Trails and saw that it was a 6.8 mile hike and thought it was doable. My Garmin calculated 5.5 miles up, and 6.5 miles down, so it was much longer than we expected. There were no restrooms at the trailhead or the the top, so go at your will. Also, the restaurant at the top was not open, so no food or beer as had hoped. Everyone at the top had brought their own coolers, which would have been great advice to read before going. Luckily we had plenty of water and hearty snacks to last us. A well prepared trek, and you’ll see beautiful views and amazing history!

Fun hike. You should definitely bring a headlamp because some tunnels are dark. Recommend you go after springtime/April to avoid the snow and ice that can accumulate on paths or in the tunnels.

Great hike. My son and I make it up in 2 hours and 40 minutes. You definitely need some kind of light in a few of the tunnels. Inside some of the tunnels it was wet and a little slippery. The day we went up it was cloudy at the top so we didn't get to see the views from there. Up until the cloud level we had great views and of course the historical nature of the road makes it that much more interesting. We went back on the Via degli Scarubbi. That took us 1:30 hours. When you make it to the switchbacks, look for small signs marking smaller trails. That shaved a lot of time, but they are a good bit steeper.
