Back in 2006 we began as a group of young and energetic Rome enthusiasts from all different countries, hoping to find a way to share our love for this wonderful city with people from all over the world. We created a team made up of insider experts, savvy local guides and specialists in food, art and culture, and developed what we believe to be the most personal and authentic approach to tourism in the market. Come in and check us out: https://www.whatalifetours.comArrange to visit What a Life Tours and other attractions in Vatican City using our Vatican City trip itinerary planning app.
We’re all about enhancing the experience for you, the customer, because ultimately, we used to be just like you – foreigners in this beautiful yet overwhelming country, with high expectations but no idea of who to trust and how to find the places and information that are truly Italian and not just tourist traps.
We’ve carefully selected hotels, restaurants, travel advice – all as a complimentary addition to our in-depth tours and services, because we genuinely want you to have an unforgettable, stress-free, local insight into the dolce vita here in Italy.
So forget what you know about the typical commercial ‘tour guide’ with a raised umbrella and a rehearsed speech – let us show you the real heart of Italy and ensure you fall in love with this country, just as we have!

The tour was very well organized and exactly as promised. Our tour guide, Lucia, was amazing. She was well-versed, informative, but also injecting humor where appropriate, and totally fun. As for the “early access” it’s 100% worth the cost. This is my second time visiting the Vatican. The first time was on my own, but with this tour everything went so much more smoothly. There is no wasted time lining up for tickets or audio guides. And visiting the Vatican in the morning (especially in the summer) is so much more comfortable. Note, some other tour groups also have early access, but it never felt crowded. And when you see what the museum and basilica are like after the regular opening time, you will definitely see the difference. Bottom line: I highly recommend this tour.

Dry early wake up for the 7.15am Vatican Tour but we’ll worth it! Breezing through before all the crowds and having enough time in each place (apart from the museum which is like Disneyland and needs a day to explore). Recommended!

We did two tours with What a Life Tours. The first was at the Colosseum in the morning with Paolo. Paolo is a great guide! He did shared so much interesting information and history of the whole area. We appreciated his love for Roman history and for keeping us entertained with his stories. It was a warm day, but well worth it! Gabriel gave us a another great tour of the Vatican. What a beautiful place to visit. He is so passionate and showed us so many special statues, paintings, tapestries, and of course, the Sistine Chapel. We had a nice, small group which made the tour even better. They even gave us delicious pizza and drinks before leaving. I highly recommend What a Life Tours.

We had 2 tours with this organization and they were both amazing. The one tour to the Vatican was with Mario and he was funny, knowledgeable and overall very professional. There was never a dull moment with him. The second tour was with John to the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hills. John was also very knowledgeable and engaging. Both of them really knew their facts, history and were able to answer any question we had in much detail. I would highly recommend this tour company to anyone!!!!!

With all of the tour companies available, we didn’t know where to start until this one came recommended to us from a friend. We will now be the ones recommending this company to others and it really comes down to the details. We started the day with complimentary croissants and coffee from a nearby shop and they provided us with water bottles to take on the tour. The early entry to the Vatican was well worth it. We toured with 10 others, a small group compared to other companies, so we were able to easily move amongst the crowds. Our tour guide, Mario, had a background in art and acting so we were very engaged the whole time. He was funny, knowledgeable, and experienced. We agreed this was a “must-do” for anyone visiting Rome!
