Natural History Museum
Natural History Museum, a small yet artistically arranged natural history museum, is located in a 13th-century palace along the Grand Canal. Walk beneath whale skeletons in the cetaceans gallery, and experience firsthand the ecosystem of the Venetian Gulf in the tegnue aquarium. Discover dinosaur fossils in the paleontology exhibit and view vast collections of artifacts, such as fossils and animal skins, while learning about the methodology of research and collection. Take advantage of the opportunity to touch some of the displays, and enjoy the artifacts and other works of art that complement the natural specimens. I loved the dinosaur part. The fossils and recreations were great, but as you continue through the museum it becomes more of a dead zoo. Way too many dead stuffed animals for me, but some might appreciate it I guess. Its a small museum but 8 euros is acceptable. Take the audio guide if you don't read Italian as there's no explanation in English.

Fantastic if you’re the kind of weirdo who likes ancient, bad taxidermy and gruesome attempts at fish preservation. And I do! It also has a nice, modern section on dinosaurs and fossils at the beginning. The oddities are in the middle, followed by more recent sections on animal movement, fish, teeth, etc (still using old taxidermy). Warning: The majority of the collection is from the age of shameless colonialism and exploration (exploitation). There are lots of dead animals, preserved organs, pictures of hunted animals (elephants, tigers, etc.), and what look like very real human skulls, a mummy, and at least one shrunken head. The explanations (in Italian) are not critical of the way any of the collection was acquired, so be ready to explain that to your kids. Skip the second half if you’re with small children or don’t want to see that kind of thing (totally understandable). Not much English available (only ‘The Living Sea’ exhibit at the end is bilingual).

Beautiful place and so interesting! We were lucky to visit when another exhibition was also running. Only problem we found was that there were not enough description in English so at times we couldn't understand the exhibits. The stuff was also very polite.

A must visit museum, I was really amazed by the collection they have. Also really nice way of presentation of objects. So many skeletons and picture of extinct animals, fossils of dinosaurs, animal skins and sea fossils. Only con I can say is, information is not in English. I could not upload videos here but it's a really must visit place!

Excellent museum, many exhibitions to enjoy and walk through. This museum has things from dinosaurs to taxidermy animals and preserved specimens. Would definitely recommend you give it a visit.
