A monumental church in the center of Verona, Basilica di Santa Anastasia is notable for the sculptures both inside and out. The four columns over the high altar display the coat of arms of Castelbarco of Trento, a family who contributed to the building of the church. The funerary monument to Cortesia is one of the renowned sculptures. It portrays the mounted figure of Cortesia holding a commanding wand in front of the sarcophagus. The chapel houses a late Gothic fresco of St. George and the Princess, one of Pisanello's main works, as well as Wilhelm von Bibra's grave. Outside the church, a small, seated sculpture of a hunchback attracts attention because of its expressive face. • Visit this pretty church. There was a charge to enter, so we viewed the interior from the entrance. Need time to take in the decorations.

  • Wandered in in a freezing, wet January. Really interesting church reflecting many eras of Verona’s rich and sumptuous past. Particularly interesting was how different the bass relief work was for the different chapels, all paid for by rich men over the centuries. The frescoes are beautiful.
  • The basilica is absolute beauty. Every figurines has a history and with good explanation. You can enjoy by reading the description in maps provided or in front as well.
  • Amazing worth the price. I can't understand why everyone complains that something costs money, but there is no such thing as a "free lunch"
  • Coach tour took us there. Lovely historic area. Lots to see. Very popular. Market stalls good.
  • The Basilica of Santa Anastasia is a beautiful church that is worth a visit if you are in the city of Verona. Maybe not as majestic as the churches in Florence and other historic visit but very interesting nevertheless.
