Clean white sand and the rock-studded sea bed, visible through azure water, make Nishihama Beach the most natural beach on Hateruma Island. An hour away by boat from Ishigaki Island, this 1 km (0.6 mi) stretch of dry white sand and emerald-green water makes the perfect spot for a barefoot walk. You can enjoy the sparkling sea both by snorkeling and swimming. The beach offers showers and vending machines with drinks, but you should bring some food along, as you won't find any restaurants at the beach. You can rent a bike at the port to cycle here, or take a 10-minute walk from Hateruma Port. 波照間港から徒歩でも10分程度で行くことが出来るビーチです。お手洗い、シャワー（100円）以外は何もない、というビーチであるため、食料は全て自分たちで調達し、且つゴミも全て持ち帰る必要があります（ゴミ箱もありません）。海は透明度が高く、波照間島には川が無いことから陸地から流れ込む栄養素等も少ないことから、魚等の水生生物の種類はかなり少ない印象です。ワイワイ騒ぐより、時間経過を忘れてのんびり過ごす... more

I came on an overcast day in December and I was still able to swim. Not many people so I had the beach to myself. The sand is soft. But don’t leave any food exposed or those pesky crows will help...

My favorite beach in all of the Ishigaki Island's. The sand was impeccable, the coral was vibrant, and there was barely anyone there! They had a nice bed and breakfast nearby but unfortunately we didn't know about it until our last day. We saw lots of sea turtles and cool fish while snorkeling. This is a must stop when visiting Ishigaki!

Magnifique beach with rosy sand, gentle water, and not crowded. In the morning waves were stronger and the waters cooler, while after three the waters get calm and even more enjoyable. A bit above the beach at the entrance one can get the parasols so to stay on the beach the whole day to enjoy it.

Perhaps the best beach in Japan. Long sandy beach, no waves due to coral reef. Striking blue colors like a postcard. Amazing. Must experience!

Beautiful water, painful to walk into the sea because of the coral so bring beach shoes. You can just bob around if you don’t want to snorkel, there were a few brave fish coming close to shore. Not much in the way of facilities, bring snacks!

Beautiful beach at Hateruma! Come here directly when you arrive at the port. Also when u snorkel you find big fishes and turtles!
