  • Such a fun, free educational experience! It's amazing what the island went through to take care of the stray cat population, and then implement conservation efforts to ensure their unique mammal (and mascot) thrives. I have a feeling that the cat accidents on island involve locals more than tourists. We stuck to the speed limit but were frequently passed by locals driving 60 kph. We have an appreciation for the island, and this little center was well worth a stop. Make sure to give a donation before you leave!
  • This center introduced the ecology on Iriomote-jima not limit on 「ヤママヤー」,is recommended to visit if you are interest on the ecology. it have map to shows the 「ヤママヤー」discovered point and accident.
  • Very informative centre with helpful staff though limited amount of info in English. There's a board at the entry showing vehicle / animal incidents that's kind of heartbreaking but it really makes you conscious of the need to slow down.
  • Very informative and helpful to understand why the wild cat is so protected. Video in English. Free entry.
  • Closed even though it's Tuesday & Google maps says it's open today. Could be because of Japanese Holiday yesterday. If you plan to visit by bus, better call to check if they are open, since there is not much else to see nearby and the bus intervals are long. (no shade at bus stop, but there is a viewpoint with shade a bit further on the main road).
