  • We walked this path along a stream, with lots of flowering trees, pretty bridges, and little cafes along the way. There were also a number of smaller shrines and temples to visit if you have the time.

  • A must do when in Kyoto. Worth taking a bust from the city center and start the tour South to North in the morning hours. You will beat the crowds and enjoy the temples with less people around.

  • The Philosopher's Path in Kyoto is a serene and picturesque walkway lined with cherry blossoms and temples. It follows a canal that's said to have been a favorite route of the philosopher Nishida...

  • Absolutely go during sakura season!!! The stroll through the snow of cherry blossom petals was one of the most magical moments of my trip! Very funny festival vibes as well with all the food to go and ice cream shops. Like anywhere touristy in Kyoto it is fairly crowded though…
  • Very beautiful path surrounded by nature. Lovely spot for peaceful walk by the river, under the huge trees. Also you may find so many attractions by the neighbourhood temples, local souvenier shops, cafè's, restaurants.
  • We went early in the morning (around 8 am) on March 28 and we were awarded with peaceful walk along the narrow stream. Start your walk from southern end walking towards the Ginkakuji Temple so the morning sun will be behind you. You will get better pictures that way. It was a beautiful walkway with wonderful Sakura. However we found that Sewaritei park is even better with amazing cherry trees all lined up.
  • Sakura is gone by the time we are there on 13-Apr in 2023.. Still could see some remnants and some lone rangers remaining though. Could imagine how pretty this stretch would be when it’s in full bloom 🌸 hopefully can get to see it in future.
  • Some people visiting only the main touristic spots (crowded and busy) and the central streets of the city (consisted of modern buildings and shops) feel a little bit disappointed because they couldn’t feel that serene and quiet atmosphere of Kyoto which is described in so many essays and books. But here, walking along this small canal in a quiet residential area you can get that beautiful feeling of calmness and peacefulness of the old Kyoto
