One of Osaka's most recognizable landmarks, Umeda Sky Building is best known for its rooftop observatory, which provides panoramic views of the city. Completed in 1993, the building features two 40-story glass and steel towers linked by a bridge--which serves as the observation platform--173 m (568 ft) off the ground. The urban garden with walking trails and water fountains at the base of the towers serves as a popular recreation spot, while the underground gourmet market revives the atmosphere of the early 20th-century Osaka. Our Osaka day trip planning tool makes visiting Umeda Sky Building and other Osaka attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

The way two buildings are constructed (joined with a tunnel) is interesting since Japan is more earthquake prone. The view from the terrace is just regular- like you would get from a skyscraper...

Amazing views of Osaka from the top of these two towers linked by a circular walkway. Recommend watching the Timelapse video of them raising the central walkway and securing it with large steel plates

Visited around lunchtime and hoped to get a drink in the sky lounge. Unfortunately, this doesn't open until 17:00, entrance to the 39th floor is free, you only have to pay to enter the observation...

The building looks great both from the outside and inside. The entrance was hard to find at first and the price is quite high at ¥1500 per adult but the view over Osaka was great so I personally recommend doing it just once. It’s good to go at night for all of the lights from the city. There are also very informative posters inside to learn about the story of the building & the architectural choices behind it.

Amazing views of Umeda Area in Osaka. Entrance is 1500 yen, but i think it definitely worth it. It has two levels for enjoy the view of the city. The first level is a closed space, and there are spaces for your to sit and even a nice cafeteria with a wide menu. Second space is open space, and is where you can catch the better views and pictures. Recommend!!

Beautiful night views of the city and city lights. Not sure what it's like during the day. Got a little lost because we didn't read the signs properly. So... go to level 3... walk down the long hall passed the 1st set of lifts and catch the lift to the top floor from there. You can purchase your ticket and redeem your prepaid ticket on that level. If you are interested in the engraved lock... be sure or order it online otherwise you'll miss out! There is loads of information and also guided tour at an added cost. There is also a souvenir shop and cafe there.

This place is quite a feat of architecture with a beautiful view. The reason for the 3 stars is because the ticket for the observatory and museum seem pretty expensive for what it is and the museum part of this ticket closes at 6. When I went and got both tickets, I did the observation deck first as I was nearing the time of the sun setting and completely lost out on the museum part which had no indication on the ticket of closing at 6. I was fortunate to get a refund for it but the lack of communication for this aspect as well as the really long wait times( because only 1 of their elevators was working) made me feel this place deserves 3 stars. That said this building is an amazing feat of architecture and has a wonderful view. Be sure to bring a warm jacket as the roof terrace view does get quite cold and windy.

A fantastic way to end the day in Osaka city while watching the sunset and enjoying a cold local or international beer. The building offers a 360 degree view of the city. You can buy a lock in the shape of a heart with you and your loved one’s name engraved and place on the top of the building. Locks and engravings are by appointments only, so call or schedule ahead.
