  • The place is one of the the infamous historical monuments. It's a calm place with vast richness of traditional herbs and medicines. The ruins stand strong and it's a strategic place where one can view the Ocean without hinderance.
  • Historical site managed by the Museums of Kenya. It's approximately 2km from the Kilifi bridge, however there is no proper signage, hence you need to ask the locals to direct you. The ruins are quite a sight, and the entrance fee includes a guide. Most of the guides are students and they will take you round the site.
  • If you're in Kilifi for more than a couple days, you should visit. The ruins are very close to town so you can take a tuk tuk, taxi or boda to get there in a few minutes. Entry is currently 500 KSh if you do the combined entry with the snake park. I'm not sure if a guide was mandatory or not but we went with the guide, Daniel, a university student placed there by his school program as a very active internship (so it costs 500 + tip to your guide). The ruins themselves are interesting but they leave one with a lot of questions. As others have said, I hope there's more investment in preservation and research in the near future. It's a beautiful site, with great views of the creek and surrounding forested area. We saw monkeys and enjoyed the giant baobob trees. The snake park was interesting but if you're into animal welfare, you'll probably be cringing.
  • Mnarani National Museum is 16 acres consisting of the Flora(species of indigenous forest/plants) and Fauna(species of animals mainly birds, reptiles and Crustaceans ) alongside Ruins (remains of perhaps residential buildings and legends of the great Baobab rituals as their shrines )
  • Great reception by the man in charge. There is a lot to learn about ancient history. The young lady who is the guide is a natural teacher, detailing and not boring. She is passionate about Mnarani history. That place should be given to her😄. A nice place to relax, natural forest and breathtaking cliff.
