Create an itinerary including Afriski Mountain Resort
Afriski Mountain Resort remains the one of only two ski resorts in the south of the continent. Sited 3,050 m (10,006 ft) above sea level, the resort features a 1 km (0.6 mi) long run for intermediate skiers and a gentle beginners’ slope. From June to August it will feel like a white Christmas and you’ll almost forget that you are visiting the world’s hottest continent. The resort offers a wide variety of accommodations--ranging from budget rooms and lodges to mountain chalets. Take a look at our Butha-Buthe planner to schedule your visit to Afriski Mountain Resort and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • Caution booking, I’ve been fighting with Afriski for over 3months to return a deposit. You can never get through to call centre, no one ever returns emails. Their support is non-existent.

  • Go during June for best snow. Lovely experience options of activities available. Restaurant and bar present. Clean toilets floor is sometimes slippery due to outside ground. WiFi was unavailable during our time there. Announcements made over speaker at snow park were helpful and informative
  • Was our first time skiing and we thoroughly enjoyed it! All levels of competency are provided for, which means all can enjoy it. Accommodation was great, chalet was serviced daily. Would love to go again to better my newly acquired skills!
  • After reading some of the not-so-positive reviews I was a little nervous visiting Afriski for the first time, but other than the very small hiccups when we arrived our stay was FANTASTIC! The Reception staff were very friendly and answered my million and one questions. Bongi in the Rental Shop was amazing, making sure that everyone had what they needed. The Sky restaurant staff were a little overwhelmed the first night and the food took a while to arrive but the 2nd time we went back it was quieter and the staff were on top form, they even baked me a cake and sang for my birthday, who doesn't love that? The staff at the PUDI Club were very accommodating when my younger son got tired during class and let him finish his lesson the following day. The Snowboarding instructors gave my sons the confidence to barrel down all of the slopes. You have to try the Paninis and Frangelico Hot Chocolate at the Gondola Cafe, you won't be sorry. There were a few little issues when it was busy but nothing that could dampen a truly magical stay at Afriski, even Mother Nature played nice and sent us snow.
  • Cold, naturally. Great skiing, basic shop to buy some clothes. Great renntal shop for all skiing/snowboarding needs. Excellent beginners area and kiddies care area for basic skiing. Small and cozy coffee/bar/resturaunt. Chalets are great but start at R4000 a night. Oxbow lodge is a few kms down the road. Basic and slightly overpriced. Includes dinner and breakfast. Afriski is a great family venue.
  • Experience well worth it truly & the drive to there is a marvel only the eyes can describe to self. However it is a high & low meandering drive & the weather can be chilly.
