An ornate example of Gothic architecture within the historical city center, St. Anne's Church and its red brick spires represent one of Vilnius' most recognizable buildings. Originally constructed in 1500, the church survived multiple wars, conflicts, and 50 years of Soviet rule. Legend has it that the invading Napoleon found it so beautiful that he wished to send it brick-by-brick back to Paris for his own. Despite the outside, its interior is Baroque: keep an eye out for the ornate altar and carved wooden statues. Take in the sizeable stained-glass windows, high vaulted ceilings, and incorporation of the church's signature bricks into the arches themselves. Incredibly beautiful church. Almost unnoticed. Unfortunately didn't manage to visit inside (not sure if it is possible), but definitely the most beautiful one in Vilnius.

The great thing is that this church was renovated in the past years. The work progress and difference are very visible. When I was there, there was also a small, but interesting open air exibition related to war in Ukraine.

A 520-year-old Gothic church, built of red bricks. Outside there is a small tipi tent with wooden beams that warm the tent and the atmosphere. The church is functional and has a partner activity, in addition you can enter and be impressed by it. Highly recommended

This was far & away the most beautiful landmark I came across during my time in Vilnius. Even after seeing about a bazillion European cathedrals/ churches/ chapels, etc…this one stands out. They apparently used 33 different varieties of bricks (colors, textures, shapes & sizes) to create a sort of “flaming” facade. Come near sunset on a clear day, & be rewarded with a true sight to behold.

Unbelievably atmospheric and beautiful. The gothic architecture is very beautiful and unique. The church is very well kept and is a must see if you’re passing by!

Stunning red brick structure nestled in the middle of Vilnius's white snow-covered streets, right next to the Bernadine Garden. You can take a peek inside for free. Don't forget to read up on the what the building has been used for in the past centuries on a plaque inside!
