Create an itinerary including Mamutik Island
Take a trip to Mamutik Island, one of five islands in a marine park set just off the mainland. Despite being the smallest of the landmasses in the park, the island offers plentiful sandy beaches and lots of barbecue pits, picnic shelters, and tables. Dive into the surrounding waters to see the protected marine life, with attractive formations of coral and many colorful fish. Do watch out for sea urchins, however: lots of the spiky critters live around the coral close to the beach, so bring some flip-flops. Using our online itinerary creator, Kota Kinabalu attractions like Mamutik Island can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • If it’s raining you won’t be able to go; they still sell you a ticket but you will wait all day at the jetty!

  • Recommend bringing toilet paper, and snorkeling is ok. Women are fully covered, even its 31 above, and there are only a few picnic tables across the entire beach.

  • Beautiful island and a must see during your visit to Kota Kinebalu. At the weekend it can be very busy because the locals go to the island then. As a traveler, keep this in mind. My tip would be to go early. Buy some snacks or sandwiches beforehand. The prices on the island are very high. It is also absolutely worth renting a snorkel set. Dozens of species of fish can be seen. Be careful not to step on the coral, they are living organisms.
  • For sure we are enjoy swimming and relaxing and it’s fun we’re build castle sand. After that we are walking around the beach and taking some picture.
  • I went there from Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal with a ferry company called Kinabalu Cemerlang. Including ferry taxes, it was 30RM per person, but when we got to the island, we had to pay 20RM per person as a foreigners fee (you're excluded to pay this if you're Malaysian). I also rented goggles for 10RM each. This island is the third stop of the ferry tour, so it will take you like 20 minutes to get there. The beach at the left side (when you leave the ferry pick up point) is wider than the one at the right side. They have places to eat and stay overnight, so expect it to be crowded.
  • Wonderful little island very close from Kota Kinabalu.Crystal clear water, white sand and palm trees! The perfect recipe! Lots of fish to spot. They actually swim around you. To get there drive to Jesselton point. From there you can easily book a speed boat to the islands around. Better arrive in Mamutik early before it gets crowded. It's part of the national park.
  • White fine sandy beach. Crystal clear water. Lacking in F&B selection. Problem with local fauna species getting too friendly with visitors.
