Hulhumale, Hulhumale

Loved our stay in Hulhumale. A modern and touristy area and I loved the whole vibe. Beautiful beaches with endless skies can be seen all around you and many restaurants and cafes are there in this city.

The water was not clean at some places. But our stay was superb in the hotel and the locals were very friendly.

This island has very nice, charming vibe to it. We explored just a little bit of it though, mostly around our hotel, which was the exteriors of it island. Residential area was much inside. The architecture, the restaurants, roads are very well done and have a European touch, owing to a lot of expats in the place probably. It's more Cosmo than other islands. It has a beach. And it's close to the Male airport as it's the same island on which the international airport is situated. One can hail a taxi or bus. We took a local bus while going and a taxi while coming back It has both high end restaurants and local restaurants all in the vicinity. We stated here only for a night. There didn't seem anything much to do there. But I'd recommend to spend at least a day here.

Before a return fligh I recommend a stop over to HULHUMALE ISLAND. It’s an artificial Island located south of the North Male Atoll. It’s just a 15 minutes drive from Velana International airport. It’s linked to the airport ( Hulhule Island) by a causeway. Hulhumale is also connected with the capital of Male by ferry transfer and by a causeway. In Hulhumale there are several hotels , restaurants, bar, different shops,banks, minimarkets, mosque, schools… There are no money Exchange office but many hotels Exchange euro /dollars in Maldivian Rufiyaa. On the Island you can pay by cash with dollars and Maldivian Rufiyaa and by credit card. Hulhumale beach has white sand and crystal waters. Unfortunately this beach is not bikini beach. It seems that bikini beach is in costruction in the south of the Island. On the beach there are several water sports centres. The beach front road is ideal for a relaxing walk. There are several front beach hotels and restaurants. Attractions to see in Hulhumale: - Central park is located in the middle of the Island and it’s the ideal for some serenity and peace. In the park there is also a swing and an open –air gym. This park is frequented also by local people. - Fish market : fishing is very important for this county. Yellowfin Tuna is the most caught fish. - Fruits and vegetables market where you can buy and taste fresh and delicious fruits. Near the beach there is skate park, fusa pitch, beach volley field for sports lovers.
