Bel Ombre Nature Reserve, Bel Ombre

Extremely pleasing walk through nature for a little more than 2 hours. You get to see deer and a few bird species, with explanations from a guide about wildlife and the history of the place. Also one has the option to swim at one of the waterfalls.

we had a good time at the nature reserve on a buggy tour. the path was technical, bumpy and rocky at times, and afforded some amazing views of the hills and gorges. our guide was very kind, informative (note, his French was much better than his English), and took some great photos for us. the best part was the unexpected (for us) stop at a small waterfall. so remember to bring your swimsuit! we didn't see much wildlife, but did see some local deer. the buggies/quad bikes were nice newer models. our only negative is that we never got to build up any speed. basically maxing out at 25km/h. Because you're in a caravan and they want you to stay within sight of the lead guide, you have to go slow. even on the flat sections it would have been fun to at least put the pedal to the metal for 2-3 seconds, but we weren't given the chance. so for a very leisurely, slow paced trek this is great. for a bit more adrenaline, you'll need to look elsewhere.

Booked a guided buggy tour without having much expectation and came out of it absolutely blown away. The reserve is really huge and we drove through only a tiny bit of it. The drive was quite rocky and slippery and that's exactly what we should get out of this type of experience. A big thanks to Jerome our guide who has been fantastic and really shared the history of the reserve and region with us. I'm definitely coming back!
