Create an itinerary including Punta Sur
Explore the protected park of Punta Sur, encompassing reefs, beaches, lagoons, and low forests. The site also includes an ancient Mayan ruin, with folklore suggesting it once acted as a whistling building that warned of approaching hurricanes. Take a hike alongside the ocean, observing sculptures corroding in the salty spray and frigate birds riding the breeze, before enjoying a cocktail in the restaurant. Keep your eyes peeled for the iguanas sunning themselves on the rocks. Plan to visit Punta Sur during your Isla Mujeres vacation using our convenient Isla Mujeres trip tool.

  • So beautiful! Exploring the southern coast. The monument park is nice- but the walkway surrounding the area is amazing.

  • A must to see when on Isla Mujeres! The statues along the path were neat to see and try to explain the history of the Island of Women.

  • Best tourist attraction for the price. The new statues they added are super nice and if you have data service QR codes give descriptions of each one. Best views of the tip and rock formations from here as well.
  • Where turquoise water of the Gulf meets the Atlantic ocean. This is an amazing place, the history, the rock formations, the walking trails make it an amazing place to visit. While it may not be one of the 7 wonders of the world, it is definitely on the list. For a few dollars, you can walk next to the roaring ocean, through the tunnels in the rock, or along the edge of the cliff. Take the time and visit this park, you won't be disappointed.
  • A beautiful place to see the sunrise. To go all the way to the end costs $2 American or $40 pesos. Totally worth it. The view is not only spectacular but so is all the rock and reef around it.
  • Must see if you are on Isla Mujeres! Go about an hour or so before sunset! You will still have plenty of time to see the site, plus capture the sunset! (Everyone says go at sunrise, which I'm sure is cool also, but no one mentions the sunsets here). Be sure to walk down all the cool paths that line the rocky shore... this is the best part. Walk down to the bottom path on the east side for amazing sunset views and also views of Cancun. (You can see both from top, but sunset is much better from lower path). Waves crashing on the rocky points are gorgeous! Cost about $2/pp...
  • Where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Gulf of Mexico's turquoise sea. This location is wonderful; its history, rock formations, and walking paths all add to its appeal as a tourist destination. You can take a stroll next to the raging water, via rock tunnels, or along the cliff's edge. You won't regret taking the time to see this beautiful park. Instagram: food_and_travel0
