Create an itinerary including El Hedim Square
Built in 1672-1674, El Hedim Square faces Bab el-Mansour and was commissioned by Moulay Ismail as the square for royal announcements and public executions. There is a fresh produce market within the square and countless shops sell handicrafts and all sorts of trinkets. Its edges are lined with cafes, shops, and restaurants, and this vibrant market comes alive with musicians and street dancers. Get a glimpse of local life as you watch hawkers, promenading families, traditional medicine doctors, and kids playing in the streets. • This is a large open square that is fun to walk through and enjoy. Unfortunately, most of it was under renovation when we went.
