Create an itinerary including Chellah
Walk through the atmospheric streets of Chellah, the ruins of a medieval Muslim necropolis and part of metropolitan Rabat's World Heritage Site. Fortifications surround much of the complex, built by the Marinids in the 13th century CE and including a mosque, royal tombs, and minaret. Ruins from previous constructions lie throughout the site, dating back as far as the Phoenicians. The minaret still stands, along with the sturdy defensive wall, though much of the site lies recumbent, overgrown by plants and fruit trees, and used as a nesting ground by storks. • You can only walk along the ancient walls and cannot go in by yourself. You may tip a guide to take you in but it’s not worth it. The scenery from hill is beautiful though.
  • Under reconstruction but still a gorgeous place even from the inside. Worth taking a walk around the site.
  • It is now closed as they are rebuilding the whole place but even from the outside it looks amazing. We hired bikes in the Medina and had a ride there. Highly recommended
  • A wonderful piece of art, one of the most visited sites in Rabat, a must see for every traveller visiting the capital, you can also enjoy a picnic around chella with the family, a great history behind the walls ❤️ Chellah is love!
  • Loved loved this place. 100% worth the pit stop and entrance fee. Nice like Roman ruins with a beautiful backdrop. Tons of birds and beautiful plants through the park. This is a huge stage near the entrance where they host music festivals and events. Make sure to walk all the way around the park! Cheers :)
