Create an itinerary including Botahtaung Pagoda
Some 2,500 years ago, the Mon people built Botahtaung Pagoda to shelter a sacred strand of hair from the Gautama Buddha within its empty interior. After World War II, the site underwent complete reconstruction, preserving the hollow center for protection of ancient relics and artifacts, plus a golden spire rising up 40 m (123 ft). As you enter the holy site through a maze-like walkway, inspect the pagoda-shaped stone casket, which serves as a treasure vault and a chamber of relics. Inside you can find terracotta plaques, ornaments, jewels, and Buddha images made of stone, brass, gold, and silver. Several locals begging for money may hover at the entrance; you can call the pagoda's staff if things get a little awkward. Botahtaung Pagoda is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , international travel planner Edition.

  • This pagoda seems as a museum, a golden museum. Inside of pagoda have a lot of silver and gold stuff and Buddhist image. Local people will go to inside for praying, please don't interrupt them.

  • It is located in Botahtaung township of Yangon. Car-parking is available. Many tourists from Thailand also visit there. Its not very good for photo scene. Its one of the famous pagoda in Yangon.

  • The Botataung Kyaik De Att Pagoda is a famous pagoda located in downtown Yangon, Myanmar, near the Yangon river. One can actually walk inside the pagoda and watch a nice collection of historical findings. Gold-foiled plated walls, with rare and precious contributions from people on display. The interior is air-conditioned and thus not warm at all. Recommend to visit to appreciate all the art works.
  • Very precious to see this religious place... I saw young Thai monks and Thai visitors. Sadhu. 😊😊😍😍
  • Love the place. Not just a pagoda. Give enough time to discover the details. The Botataung Pagoda was destroyed during World War II, and was rebuilt after the war. The new one has many ancient relics and artifacts that were sealed inside the earlier pagoda.
  • We Peaceful place & very Energetic place 🙏
  • It is a wonderful historical place, beside Yangon river.. must Visit
