Create an itinerary including Diaz Point
Admire pristine nature at Diaz Point, the tip of the Lüderitz Peninsula and part of the area's nature reserve. Protruding some 50 m (164 ft) into the South Atlantic, the point offers exciting and sweeping views of the ocean. A 53 m (174 ft) tall red and white banded lighthouse guards the tip, but is unfortunately not accessible to the public. When the tide goes down, look out beyond the lighthouse to see the Diaz Cross, erected on the spot where Portuguese navigator Bartholomew Diaz first set up a stone cross on the headland in 1488. Keep your eyes peeled and you might also see Cape fur seals basking on the rocks. A visit to Diaz Point represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Luderitz tour itinerary maker site to plot your vacation.

  • We had a cab driver take us here. Very rocky and very windy. The lighthouse was nice to see. You can rent it for a night.

  • Well worth the drive out of Luderitz (+/- 20km). It is beautiful there. An information board erected gave sufficient details to relay to the young ones.
