Janakpurdham or Janakpur (Nepali: जनकपुर, Nepali pronunciation: [d͡zʌnʌkpur]) is a sub-metropolitan city in Dhanusha District, Madhesh Province, Nepal. According to tradition, storyteller indicates an earlier city known as Janakpurdham existed in the area, which was supposedly the capital of the Videha dynasty that ruled the Mithila region in ancient times. Janakpur is located about 225 km (140 mi) southeast of Kathmandu.[4] As of 2015, the city had a population of 173,924.[5] The city had a population of 195,438 in 2021.[1] Janakpur is currently the most populated sub metropolitan city of Nepal. Dedicated to Goddess Sita, Janaki Mandir is the biggest temple in Nepal located in Janakpur. It is constructed at the place where Goddess Sita was born. The attraction is now considered as a religiously important monument and a heritage site but is still an active temple for devotees. Anybody seeking a slice of the legend of Ramayana must visit the divine Janaki Temple. The Janaki Mandir is an examplar of Hindu-Koiri Nepali architecture having a stunning white facade. The 3 storied temple is built entirely of stones and marbles, while the 60 rooms inside are adorned with Nepali flag, engravings, paintings, beautiful lattice windows and turrets. The Janaki temple is predominantly thronged by devotees during auspicious occasions and festivals like the Ram Navami, Vivah Panchami, Dashain, Deepavali, and Holi. Pilgrims come in from all around Nepal, Sri Lanka and India to worship the Goddess who is deemed an epitome of courage, purity, selflessness, dedication, loyalty and feminine virtues.

The place is said to be the religious site where Lord Ram and Goddess Sita tied knots. It lies just next to Janaki Mandir and portrays excellent architecture. . Nominal Ticket is charged of rupees 10 NPR per person (when this review was written) . Young Nibbi Ninbas can be often seen to use the premises for shooting TicTok videos. . I witnessed a Romantic Shooting with roses and tears. . You can also plan a visit there with family. But maintain the decorum of religious site. . Thank you Lots of Love.
