Create an itinerary including Bridal Veil Falls
See the dramatic Bridal Veil Falls, shooting out from the basalt cliff face and plunging into the rock pool below. Reach the top of the cliffs via a short walk through the flourishing tawa tree forest, and admire the 55 m (180 ft) falls from above at the first two viewing platforms. Halfway down a steep set of steps you will find a third viewing platform, and at the very bottom a viewing bridge offering additional vistas of the surrounding area . • DOC site. Dog left in the van. Very easily negotiated slope. A push chair would make it most of the way. Nicely graved path and DOC toilet just off the road

  • I used to swim here as a child but turned up recently with some international tourists to see that the place has turned into a dairy farm cattle sewer. Completely embarrassed after raving about it...

  • Stunning place. Well worth the drive and the walk. The initial walk to the top of the falls is around 10 minutes. If you want to get to the bottom (where the best views are), you have to desend around 250 steps. Keep in mind you have to get back up the stairs too. But for my family with mild fitness we managed fine. Great day trip, including a visit to Raglan.
  • Absolutely stunning and well worth the drive and short walk to the lookouts. Multiple look outs so if you can't make it all the way down to view the waterfall you can view it from a few vantage points up top. Spectacular scenery all around!
  • This is free of cost. Majestic view of a wonderful waterfall. Small walking track leading to this view. No steps to climb or get down to view the waterfalls. If you like to view it from the bottom, you need to climb down the stairs which is about 350. Plenty of parking on the road.
  • Lovely waterfall and beautiful reserve on the way there. The track is well maintained with steps along the way and accessible for pedestrians all ages. Plenty of space to rest if you wish to take it easy. There’s also a lookout option if you don’t want to go all the way to the bottom.
  • Worth it ! It’s about 8mins to the top of the falls from the car park, two other lookout points before hitting the bottom. Another 10min down the stairs to the bottom. Would recommend going down first, then slowly make your way back up on the stairs to the other lookout points as a breather. Tracks are well paved and maintained.
