Visit one of the city's landmarks at Catedral de Granada, a neoclassical church that dominates the urban skyline. The 1972 edifice features a striking red and yellow facade, along with two domed towers and bell tower. Walking through the church's five altars, and look for the sacred image of the Virgen de la Concepción, saved from destruction by fire in 1856. Also, pay attention to the main altar's statue of Mary surrounded by silver, and backed by blue mosaic tiles. Climb the bell tower to enjoy views of the city, the lake, and the volcano in the distance. • Beautiful colonial cathedral with plenty of bright Spanish colors and Spanish tiles. There is an option to go to the top which we definitely recommend. You are able to see the whole plaza from a birds eye view.
  • For $1, you literally have no excuse not to visit the top of the cathedral. The views are excellent and you'll end up getting some great overall pics of the city. The cathedral itself is beautiful so I strongly recommend visiting!
  • Great spot for photos and sight seeing to learn more of the cities history. If you’re catholic they have a dating service available too oddly enough.
  • Beautiful backdrop to the lovely walkable street full of cafes. Worth a visit in
  • I've visited lots of churches in Masaya. Also in Catarina, León and Estelí. There is no church like this.
