Explore an important part of Nicaraguan history with a visit to PALACIO DE LA CULTURA, a grandiose structure that houses the national museum. Commissioned by President Juan Bautista Sacasa in 1935 and built by architect Pablo Dambach, the building is one of the country's oldest structures undamaged by the devastating earthquake of 1972. Having housed the national congress for over 50 years, the building now holds the national library and the national museum, displaying pre-Columbian petroglyphs among other artifacts connected to Nicaraguan history. • Well worth a visit if you’re in the area. The surrounding buildings in the square are also pretty outstanding too.

  • This historic building has been transformed into a wonderful national museum, illustrating the natural history and art of Nicaragua. It was a fascinating place to visit and explore!
  • It's always good to know a country's history and origins. The displays were well laid out and the guide was knowledge
  • Excellent museum, surely the best in the country. Entry $5 for everyone (international, student, national, etc). Very knowledgeable staff who taught me so much. Great archaeological artifacts and also a great art collection. It's the national art museum too. And they even have one of the footprints from 6000bc that you can't see at the archaeological museum in Acahualinca (the Huellas) since it's closed. This is a must visit attraction in Managua
  • Very nice building, great memories
  • I love this museum it has tons of precolombian art and other things pre-european. This museum has almost everything related to Nicaragua from artwork to history also to just outside of the museum there are people selling ice cream. Please go it is wonderful!
