The museum's other component, the history of the Nicaraguan coin, details each form of currency heralded by presidential change. • If you are interested in archeology, this small museum is a must see. Staff of the hotel of the same name will guide you around.

  • The museums were both really nice. We had a very detailed and great tour from the woman at the reception. She was really interested in the topics of the museums and took a lot of time, answering all our questions and showing everything with great and catching excitement. Thanks a lot again for the great, authentic tour and the self-made drink :) It’s great if someone is so well informed and interested of a topic.
  • USA Traveler: My friend and I went here and we bought the excavation tour. There's a history of the coins tour too. One tour for 5$ or both for 8$. The girl was very nice and funny. She spoke English very well and gave us the tour. You'd need to have a tour guide because there's no information in the rooms, just displays. Spent maybe just over an hour there. Small shopping area. Bathrooms if needed. Very interesting and good information on the tour! Oh and there were bats on the ceiling just outside of where you entered!!!
  • NOTE: this review is for the museum, NOT the hotel. The journey to this location took a little bit through a rough dirt road, but not too long. The worker was very friendly and attended to us immediately. He gave us all the info we needed. There were 2 museums: one for coin and one for pottery. We chose the pottery museum, since foreigners need to pay extra to see both. The worker was very thorough. If anyone had a question, he would answer. He was friendly the whole time. I felt like I learned a lot about the island's history and crafts. Towards the end, we asked about the souvenirs and he answered our questions. They give a free shot of their alcohol they brew to those who see the museum. The shot was good and they give salty oranges to help wash it down. Great museum. Come check it out. You'll learn a lot.
  • Great museum. At first I thought the price of 8 USD for both museums is a bit high but I am very happy I went and learned a lot. The owner is fluent in English and Spanish and explained everything very detailed and with a great sense of humor. I think it’s a must if you want to understand the history of Ometepe and Nicaragua.
  • I was lucky enough to have my own English guide. It is a really nice place and the staff have a lot of knowledge. Thank you Will for the tour!! 😊
