Create an itinerary including Fish Market
Shop and eat your way through Fish Market, the site that has served as the meeting place for fisherman, traders, and locals alike since the 12th century. Located in the very center of the city on the wharf, it is one of the most popular outdoor markets in Norway and is often bustling with action. Browse the stalls of fresh fish and other seafood and view the live catches from that morning. Purchase crab, shrimp, caviar, smoked salmon, cod, or even whale from one of the friendly fishmongers. Sample some of the local cuisine at one of the many vendors along the market. You can also buy souvenirs, local art, flowers, fruits, and vegetables here. Arrive early to avoid the crowds. Make Fish Market a centerpiece of your Bergen vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Bergen travel planner.

  • We ate an evening meal at the fish market on a tuesday night off season and it was still pretty busy. Service was good and there was a good choice on the menu. Its pricey but you are in central...

  • If you want to treat yourself to some excellent food and some good wine, visit this place. The food they serve is the highest quality you can find. We tried the octopus, halibut and the crab legs. Absolutely delicious. Ask for Lucas from Argentina:) he was wonderful.
  • Freshly cooked fishes, always hot or cold and tasty. I recommend this place as a special treat as it is quite expensive in comparison to other fish and chip shops. However, it is great and nice location too.
  • The Market has a lot of local residents selling sea food, fresh fruits and homemade goods. We saw a few performers in the market which made the shopping a bit entertaining. One thing that I found was unique was whale meat which tasted different but delicious.
  • 🐟It's not your classic fish market, but more a few restaurants that also sell fish, seafood, sushi and more to go as well as sit in. Quality seemed decent but also a bit overpriced, due to the great location and to the fact that it's advertised in every tourist brochure. Didn't see too many locals there, as you can imagine.
  • Great place to visit if your in Bergen. Right in centre of the harbour. Loads of stalls selling, cooking and serving fresh sea food
